Information and Services Provided to Students

In this section, you will find useful information and services for postgraduate students of the University of Piraeus, including matters related to the academic ID, the library, electronic learning resources, access to networks and software, as well as dining and healthcare services, with the aim of supporting and enhancing the student experience.

ACADEMIC ID

The academic ID is mandatory for all enrolled postgraduate students. It is issued after logging in to the address `https://academicid.minedu.gov.gr` using your personal credentials and submitting the relevant application electronically. The academic ID also serves as a student pass, facilitating travel on public transport. It is also used for identification purposes in the University’s academic procedures (e.g. examinations).

LIBRARY

A wide range of services is provided by the University Library through its central website at `https://www.lib.unipi.gr`. The Library of the University of Piraeus serves faculty members, researchers, and students, and its mission is to support education and research. It is located in the University’s main building, on the second basement level. Access is through the main circular staircase in the middle of the ground floor. For persons with disabilities, the lift on the left side of the building is also available. The library consists of three main areas: * **The Reception Area**, where the circulation desk, the closed collection, rare collections, and computers for searching the catalogue and information resources are located. * **The Book Stack Area**, which houses the entire printed collection of the library, the photocopying machine, and computers for readers. * **The Reading Room**, where dictionaries, display stands with the latest issues of printed journals, and other reference material are available. Its opening hours have been extended in order to meet the needs of members of the University, operating from **8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.**, daily, on all working days.

E-CLASS

The University operates distance learning systems under the supervision and responsibility of its Academic Departments, which support the educational process and are hosted by the IT Department at `www.eclass.unipi.gr`. Lecture notes, announcements, and other educational material are uploaded to these platforms.

VPN NETWORK

For certain services or the use of software, you are required to be connected to the University of Piraeus network. This is also possible remotely, from your personal computer, through the use of the University’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) service provided by the Network Center, by following the instructions available at [https://www.unipi.gr/unipi/el/hu-sundesh-vpn.html](https://www.unipi.gr/unipi/el/hu-sundesh-vpn.html).

WIRELESS NETWORK

Access to the pan-European **Eduroam wireless network**, which is available at a very large number of academic and research institutions in Greece and across Europe ([https://www.unipi.gr/unipi/el/hu-asurmath-sundesh-wi-fi.html](https://www.unipi.gr/unipi/el/hu-asurmath-sundesh-wi-fi.html)).

DINING SERVICES

Postgraduate students of the University of Piraeus are entitled to **free dining**, provided that they do not already hold a postgraduate degree, and subject primarily to their family or personal financial situation and place of residence. The conditions for free dining, the supporting documents required for the issuance and renewal of the special dining card, as well as the deadlines for submitting dining applications, are announced by the **Student Welfare Department** at the beginning of each academic year. For students eligible for dining through the Student Welfare Department, the platform `https://sitisi.unipi.gr/` is available, where they may submit their application and upload the necessary supporting documents. Through the same platform, students who meet the required criteria may also apply for accommodation in a student residence. HEALTHCARE SERVICES

Pursuant to Article 31 of Law 4452/2017, postgraduate students who do not have any other medical, pharmaceutical, or hospital coverage are entitled to full medical, pharmaceutical, and hospital care within the National Health System (NHS), with the relevant costs covered by EOPYY, in accordance with the analogous application of Article 33 of Law 4368/2016.
